Summer = Fun
Greeting cards and movies lead you to believe summer is a time to stay home lounging on the porch while sipping lemonade. Not true at all! Missouri has many unique, fun and tasty outings that are only available during the summer.

Missouri's farmers' markets offer a wide variety of products, grown in your backyard, to fit every taste bud. Find a farmers' market near you using the farmers' market map.

When planning summer travel don't forget to visit Missouri's u-pick berry farms. It's hard to beat picking (and eating) fresh, juicy, ripe berries straight off the vine. Visit the Buyer's Guide to find a farm near you.

After visiting the local farmers' market and picking delicious berries, stop by the AgriMissouri Market at the Missouri State Fair August 12-22. The AgriMissouri Market features barbecue sauces, jams, jellies, cheeses, milk, spices, seasonings and many more of the products that can be found in the AgriMissouri Buyer’s Guide.

Agritourism Survey
Agritourism is a growing sector of Missouri’s agricultural industry. AgriMissouri, a program within the Missouri Department of Agriculture, partnered with the University of Missouri’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism program to conduct a survey of agritourism operators to determine the impact agritourism has on their farms as well as communities.

The study showed that over 1.2 million people visit agritourism destinations each year. Sixty-four percent of respondents indicated adding an agritourism destination to their farm increased their farm revenues significantly and 66% plan to continue increasing their agritourism offerings on their farm. Download the full Missouri Agritourism Survey or the Profile of Farms by Visitor Numbers. Contact Sarah Gehring at Sarah.Gehring@mda.mo.gov for printed copies.

Social Media
AgriMissouri has been using social media to interact with consumers on a more conversational level. Blogging, podcasts and videos are the tools being used.

A blog is similar to a website only it is updated more frequently and offers the ability to comment on a particular post.

A podcast is an audio interview with members about their products or upcoming events. It allows you, the consumer, to hear from our members and get to know them directly.

The videos are the exact same only they offer the visual component in addition to the audio. To listen or download AgriMissouri podcasts and videos click on the links below.
